Singapura – Menteri Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif/Kepala Badan Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno mengapresiasi partisipasi 15 Mahasiswa Politeknik Pariwisata Medan dalam kegiatan SCALE (Specialists’ Community Action and Leadership Exchange) IX 2023 sebagai bentuk konkret dari pengembangan sumber daya manusia (SDM) parekraf yang berdaya saing internasional.
Dirinya mengatakan SCALE merupakan program pertukaran pelajar antara RPS dan beberapa perguruan tinggi lainnya di Asia. Poltekpar Medan termasuk perguruan tinggi yang turut serta dalam acara yang dilaksanakan di kampus RPS itu.
Hal ini juga menjadi bentuk konkret kerja sama antara Poltekpar Medan dengan RPS yang melibatkan aspek-aspek mencakup pemberdayaan, peningkatan keterampilan kepemimpinan, peningkatan kesadaran sosial, perluasan jaringan dan kolaborasi, serta peluang karier di bidang pengembangan komunitas. Dengan harapan, ke depan SDM yang dicetak oleh Poltekpar Medan bisa memiliki daya saing di tingkat internasional.
Adapun tema yang diusung dalam program SCALE kali ini adalah “Marketing Sustainable Cultural and Natural Tourism Destinations to Youth”.
“Tujuan program SCALE IX ini adalah untuk menumbuhkan pemahaman dan apresiasi yang lebih besar terhadap pengembangan pariwisata berkelanjutan yang berfokus pada warisan budaya dan alam di destinasi pariwisata, dan agar destinasi tersebut dapat dipromosikan kepada segmen generasi muda di Asia Tenggara,” kata Menparekraf Sandiaga dalam penutupan program SCALE IX di Republic Polytechnic of Singapore (RPS), Rabu (20/9/2023).
Sebanyak 15 mahasiswa Poltekpar Medan turut mengikuti program SCALE IX yang diselenggarakan pada 6-19 September 2023.
Berlanjut nantinya pada Maret 2024, mahasiswa RPS bersama mahasiswa Poltekpar Medan akan melaksanakan program komunitas pengerjaan proyek inovasi sosial atau proyek bertema industri di Sumatra Utara sebagai lanjutan dari program pertukaran pelajar SCALE IX selama dua pekan.
“Peran pemuda dalam mewujudkan keberlanjutan lingkungan memang sangat penting, tidak hanya di bidang pariwisata saja, tetapi juga di setiap sektor kehidupan sehari-hari. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga menjadi bukti kerukunan dan kekompakan negara-negara Asia dalam merealisasikan pengembangan SDM parekraf yang berkelanjutan dan berdaya saing,” katanya,
Selain Poltekpar Medan dan RPS, program ini juga diikuti tiga perguruan tinggi terkemuka lainnya di Asia, yaitu University of the Philippines Diliman mewakili Filipina, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi mewakili Thailand, dan Suzhou University of Scienceand Technology mewakili Tiongkok.
