Menteri Koordinator Bidang Pembangunan Manusia dan Kebudayaan Muhadjir Effendy menyatakan generasi milenial dan generasi z harus memiliki penguasaan teknologi digital sebagai keterampilan yang utama. 

 “Jadi semua generasi milenial dan generasi z wajib menguasai digital. Kalau dulu zaman saya tidak perlu. Saya cukup pintar ngomong, pintar nulis, menguasai bahasa asing. Tapi sekarang tidak cukup harus menguasai komunikasi digital. Itu menjadi bagian utama,” ujarnya dalam Pidato Kunci Seminar dan Kuliah Umum Literasi Komputasi: Literasi dan Etika Digital Melalui GNRM, di Auditorium Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia, Jakarta Selatan, Kamis (05/10/2023).

Menko Muhadjir menjelaskan perkembangan global saat ini membuat penguasaan teknologi digital harus dimiliki generasi muda. Menurutnya, era saat ini adalah era baru yang belum pernah dialami pada era sebelumnya. 

“Ini era baru sama sekali yang belum pernah dialami oleh revolusi digital sebelumnya di mana teknologi digital ini hampir menghapus semua jenis keterampilan yang selama ini dipersyaratkan untuk menjadi manusia beradab,” tuturnya.

Menurut Menko Muhadjir ada sisi negatif dari era digital berkaitan dengan disrupsi keterampilan dan kemampuan berpikir yang semakin lama kehidupan manusia bisa digantikan oleh teknologi digital dan kecerdasan buatan (artificial intelegence/AI). Oleh karena itu, Menko PMK menekankan arti penting  batasan-batasan yang bisa membuat pemanfaatan teknologi digital tidak menjadikan disrupsi keterampilan dan kemampuan berpikir makin menurun.

“Tantangan terbesar kedepan menetapkan namanya ‘Moral and Ethical Bordering’, batasan moral batasan etika, mana yang tidak boleh dilampau ketika kita menguasai teknologi digital. Dan kita sadar betul bahwa ini tantangan sangat berat untuk Indonesia,” jelasnya.

Lebih lanjut Menko Muhadjir menyampaikan bahwa ‘Revolusi Mental’ merupakan gerakan bersama untuk merubah cara pikir, cara kerja, dan cara hidup. Sikap positif terhadap suatu permasalahan perlu terus dikembangkan, sehingga perlu pergeseran tingkatan sikap dari antipati, apati, simpati, menjadi empati.
 
Menteri Muhadjir berharap Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia bisa menelurkan berbagai macam buah pikiran untuk pemanfaatan teknologi digital dengan bijak. Menurutnya, Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia bisa menjadi think-thank yang bisa memberikan batasan moral berkaitan dengan teknologi dan artifisial inteligence. 

“Malapetaka teknologi akan terjadi kalau kita tidak arif tidak bisa memanfaatkan sebaik-baiknya,” tutupnya.
