Hal ini diungkapkan Plh Sekda Kobar Juni Gultom. Menurutnya, keberadaan wisata kuliner akan mendukung sektor pariwisata yang ada di Kobar.
“Wisata kuliner ini akan berdampak pada tambahnya para wisatawan yang datang ke Kotawaringin Barat,” ujar Juni Gultom baru-baru ini.
Dia menuturkan, kuliner merupakan bagian dari pusaka budaya. Oleh karenanya, kuliner juga harus dijaga kelestariannya, sebagai bagian dari keberagaman nusantara.
Di samping itu juga, kuliner merupakan penggerak ekonomi masyarakat. Pasalnya, banyak UMKM yang bergerak di sektor kuliner.
“Kuliner merupakan kekuatan ekonomi rakyat karena UKM yang terbanyak berasal dari sektor makanan. Mustahil kalau mengatakan ekonomi pro rakyat tapi tidak berpihak pada kuliner,” ungkap Juni.
Juni menyampaikan, jika ada sekitar 52 jenis wadai tradisional khas Kobar yang sudah mulai jarang ditemui seperti wadai putu mayang, jorong, putu menggala, putu basah, pais menggala,rangai dan lain sebagainya.
“Kuliner tradisional ini adalah yang disukai para sultan dan ini perlu adanya komitmen bersama, untuk menjaga kelestarian kekayaan kuliner di Kobar,” sebutnya.
Juni berkeyakinan wisata kuliner peninggalan para Raja ini akan menjadi salah satu daya tarik wisatawan unutk dating ke Kobar.
Namun dirinya juga berharap agar makanan tradisional ini dapat dikemas dengan baik lebih berkualitas lagi.
Salah satu upaya pemerintah daerah melestarikan kuliner khas Kobar yaitu dengan menggelar Festival Mehampar Wadai yang rutin diadakan setiap tahun saat momen hari perayaan Hari Jadi Kotawaringin Barat.
