Peneliti Jerman Jajaki Kerjasama Pemanfaatan Biomassa Anak Perusahaan Holding PTPN III (Persero)

Peneliti Jerman dari Institut für ZukunftsEnergie und Stoffstromsysteme (IZES) dan Institute for Energy and Enviromental Research menjajaki potensi kerjasama pemanfaatan energi baru terbarukan (EBT) menggantikan batu bara sebagai sumber energi pada industri tekstil dengan biomassa komoditas sawit PT Perkebunan Nusantara V.

“Kita memiliki keinginan mensubtitusi batubara yang selama ini dipakai pada industri tekstil dengan sumber energi yang sustainable, yakni biomassa yang dihasilkan PTPN V,” kata Scientific Director Institute for Energy and Enviromental Research Dr Guido Reinhardt saat berkunjung ke Kantor Direksi PTPN V, Kota Pekanbaru, belum lama ini.

Dalam kunjungan yang disambut langsung Kepala Bagian Perencanaan Sustainability dan Teknologi Informasi PTPN V Ifri Handi Lubis dan jajaran tersebut, Guido hadir bersama rekannya Bernhard Wern, Head of Department Material Flow Management IZES mengapresiasi pendekatan anak perusahaan Holding Perkebunan Nusantara III Persero itu dalam memanfaatkan EBT melalui pengolahan limbah cair sawit.

Guido menjelaskan bahwa PTPN V telah memanfaatkan EBT dengan sangat baik dalam beberapa waktu terakhir. Keberhasilan tersebut membawa dia untuk mengunjungi perusahaan yang memanfaatkan EBT terbesar di seluruh PTPN Group tersebut dan menyaksikan langsung intalasi pembangkit listrik tenaga biogas (PLTBg) di Kebun Tandun, PTPN V.

“Kita ingin melihat langsung bagaimana pendekatan PTPN V dalam memanfaatkan EBT,” ujarnya.

Meski begitu, ia mengakui bukan hal yang mudah untuk mengubah kebiasaan dari energi kurang ramah lingkungan ke energi yang lebih ramah lingkungan itu tidak mudah.

“Butuh waktu paling tidak 5 tahun, untuk bisa mengubah bahan bakar dari yang batu bara ke yang lebih ramah lingkungan,” ujar Benhard.

“Tentu harapan kami sumber energi berkelanjutan menjadi tulang punggung untuk industri terutama tekstil di masa mendatang sejingga nanti akan terbangun kekuatan ekonomi untuk dua pihak, Indonesia bisa kirim produk ke pasar Eropa, mereka juga bisa masuk ke pasar kita,” paparnya.

Sementara itu, Direktur PTPN V Jatmiko Santosa menyambut baik kedatangan dua peneliti Jerman tersebut. Ia mengatakan strategi PTPN V dalam memperkuat pemanfaatan EBT adalah melalui sinergi dan transfer pengetahuan dengan berbagai pihak. Mulai dari Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional hingga perusahaan swasta berhasil membangun lima instalasi pembangkit tenaga biogas (PTBG).

Selain itu, anak perusahaan calon pendiri PalmCo dalam waktu dekat tersebut juga tengah menjalin kerjasama dengan Korea Selatan dan Jepang untuk memperkuat pemanfaatan biogas.

“Sejalan dengan grand strategy perusahaan untuk menghasilkan produk sustainable plus palm oil yang mulai diimplementasikan sejak 2019, upaya dekarbonisasi dan pemanfaatan renewable energy menjadi salah satu program yang mengalami percepatan,” paparnya.

Untuk diketahui, saat ini PTPN V menjadi perusahaan perkebunan plat merah terbesar yang memanfaatkan EBT melalui pengolahan POME dengan PTBg. Baru-baru ini, keseriusan PTPN V memaksimalkan EBT diganjar penghargaan internasional Asean Energy Awards (AEA) 2023 dalam rangkaian 41st ASEAN Minister on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and ASEAN Energy Business Forum.

PTPN V meraih second runner up untuk kategori Renewable Energi for Cogeneration melalui salah satu pembangkit tenaga biogas terbarunya di Pabrik Kelapa Sawit Sei Pagar, Kabupaten Kampar, Riau dan menjadi satu-satunya perusahaan perkebunan milik negara yang mendapat penghargaan tersebut.
