“Saya sangat senang dengan kemenangan ini, namun akhir-akhir ini saya kurang bahagia,” kata Jabeur ketika ditanya apakah – sebagai “Menteri Kebahagiaan” tidak resmi Tunisia – ia senang membalas kekalahannya di Wimbledon dari Vondrousova pada pertandingan final.
“Situasi di dunia membuat saya tidak bahagia,” ujarnya dengan suara tercekat. Jabeur menjauh sedikit dari mikrofon sambil terisak.
“Sangat sulit melihat anak-anak dan bayi meninggal setiap hari. Situasinya menyedihkan, jadi saya memutuskan untuk menyumbangkan sebagian dari hadiah uang saya untuk membantu warga Palestina,” ujarnya, yang disambut tepuk tangan para penonton.
“Saya tidak bisa bahagia hanya dengan kemenangan ini, di tengah kondisi yang terjadi. Maaf teman-teman, saya seharusnya bicara tentang tenis, tapi saya sangat frustrasi melihat video setiap hari.
