JAKARTA – Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) memprediksi musim kemarau akan berakhir di sebagian besar wilayah Indonesia mulai akhir Oktober ini, dan awal musim hujan secara bertahap, dimulai awal November 2023.
Namun, akibat tingginya keragaman iklim, maka awal musim hujan tidak terjadi secara serentak di seluruh wilayah Indonesia. Sementara puncak musim hujan diprediksi akan terjadi pada bulan Januari – Februari 2024.”Sesuai prediksi BMKG, puncak dampak El Nino terjadi pada bulan September, namun tadi kami juga menganalisis dari data satelit yang terkini, terlihat Oktober ini nampaknya intensitas El Nino belum turun. Fenomena El Nino ini diprediksi masih akan terus bertahan hingga tahun depan,” ungkap Kepala BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati di Jakarta, Selasa (3/10).
Dwikorita mengatakan, level El Nino moderat akan terus bertahan dan berakhir pada bulan Februari-Maret 2024. Awal musim hujan sendiri, kata dia, berkaitan erat dengan peralihan Monsun Australia menjadi Monsun Asia. Saat ini, lanjut Dwikorita, Monsun Asia sudah mulai memasuki wilayah Indonesia sehingga diprediksi bulan November akan mulai turun hujan.
“Artinya pengaruh El Nino akan mulai berkurang oleh masuknya musim hujan sehingga diharapkan kemarau kering ini segera berakhir secara bertahap. Ada beberapa wilayah yang masuk musim penghujan sebelum November dan ada yang mundur, tapi sebagian besar pada bulan November,” imbuhnya.
Dalam kesempatan tersebut, Dwikorita pun mewanti-wanti masyarakat untuk tidak melakukan aktivitas yang dapat memicu terjadinya kebakaran lantaran kemarau kering masih belum berakhir.
“Masyarakat dimohon selama bulan Oktober ini kondisinya masih kering, maka tidak dibakar pun bisa terbakar. Jadi jangan mencoba-coba untuk dengan sengaja atau tidak sengaja untuk mengakibatkan nyala api karena pemadamannya akan sulit untuk dilakukan,” pungkasnya.
