Pusat Penelitian Karet (Indonesian Rubber Research Institute) – PT Riset Perkebunan Nusantara pada hari Senin, 27 November 2023 telah melaksanakan peresmian rumah kaca dengan pengguntingan pita  yang dilakukan oleh Dr. Minami Matsui dari RIKEN dan Dr. Suroso Rahutomo selaku Kepala Pusat Penelitian Karet.  

Peserta  yang hadir pada kesempatan ini adalah  Mr. Mashiro Hatsu dan Ms. Misa Masuda dari Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Dr. Minami Matsui, Dr Wee Dee Ong dari Riken Japan, Dr. Masafumi Shimizu, Dr. Yoshiharu Yamamto, Dr. Stephany Angelia Tumewu dari Gifu University Japan, Dr, Masahiko Ota dari Nagasaki University Japan, Dr, Retno Lestari dari Universitas Indonesia, Mr. Satoru Mitani dan Ms. Sheny Marliana SS, dan Dr. Thomas Wijaya dari Japan International Collaboration Agency (JICA) dan dari Puslit Karet yaitu Dr. Tri Rapani Febbiyanti, Dr. Radite Tistama, Aprizal Alamsyah M.Si., Sayurandi, M.Si., Iman Satra Nugraha, S.E., Martini Aji, M.Si, Andrea Akbar, S.P., Teknisi, dan Laboran.

Rumah kaca riset yang dilengkapi dengan penstabilan suhu dan kelembaban, intensitas cahaya, pengkabutan (misting) dan pemberian nutrisi, dan generator otomatis bertujuan untuk mendukung penelitian di Puslit Karet   yang berjudul “Development of Complex Technologies for Prevention and Control of Rubber Tree Leaf Fall Diseases”.

Penelitian tersebut merupakan proyek SATREPS (Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development) yang didanai oleh JST bersama dengan JICA dan merupakan kolaborasi antara Pusat Penelitian Karet, RIKEN Japan, Universitas Indonesia dan Gifu University. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian tersebut yaitu untuk mendapatkan teknologi mengatasi penyakit gugur daun karet yang saat ini menjadi masalah dan menurunkan produksi karet nasional.  

Dalam sambutannya Dr. Suroso Rahutomo mengucapkan terima kasih karena Pusat Penelitian Karet telah dipercaya untuk ikut serta dalam proyek SATREPS. ”Dengan diresmikannya rumah kaca ini maka akan memperlancar kegiatan penelitian di PPK sehingga teknologi untuk pencegahan dan pengendalian Penyakit Gugur Daun Pestalotiopsis pada Tanaman Karet dapat segera diperoleh”, ujar Kepala Pusat Penelitian Karet.

Dr. Mitani Satoru dari pihak JICA juga menyampaikan terima kasih atas kolaborasi antar pihak dalam kerja sama ini yang terjalin dengan sangat baik sekaligus penyambutan hangat yang diberikan oleh Puslit Karet. Kedepannya, Dr. Mitani Satoru berharap masing-masing output dari kerja sama riset ini sesuai dengan yang diharapkan.
