Usai menggelar dua pelatihan mengenai diversifikasi produk tembakau kepada sekitar 350 orang pada Oktober dan November 2022 di sejumlah desa di Ponorogo, pada 23 November 2022, Dinas Perdagangan Koperasi dan Usaha Mikro (Disperdagkum) Kabupaten Ponorogo bertandang ke Puslit Tembakau Jember milik PTPN X.
“Pada Oktober 2022 kami menghelat Pelatihan Pembuatan Asap Cair untuk 150 orang petani tembakau. Kemudian pada awal November 2022, kami mengadakan Pelatihan Pembuatan Biobriket kepada kurang lebih 200 orang,” ulas Ir. Sumarno, MM Kepala Disperdagkum Kabupaten Ponorogo.
Pasca dua pelatihan tersebut, tambah Sumarno, kami – PTPN Xmengajak perwakilan peserta dan juga rekan-rekan dari Bidang Industri Disperdagkum Ponorogo untuk memperluas sekaligus memperdalam wawasan mengenai diversifikasi produk tembakau PTPN X.
“Menurut saya Puslit Tembakau PTPN X sudah cukup menggambarkan besarnya potensi diversifikasi produk tembakau. Di sini, kami peserta Study Referensi diperkenalkan mengenai ragam produk yang bisa dihasilkan dari limbah tembakau seperti dari daun pucuk, biji, bunga, dan akar tembakau. Selain demo pembuatan biochar, asap cair grade 1 dan grade 2, kami juga melihat demo proses pembuatan biopellet dan juga kertas biodegradable serta alat dan mesin yang terkait dengan diversifikasi produk. Salah satunya adalah kompor biomassa. Kami juga mendapatkan ilmu mengenai pembesaran benih tembakau (pillenasi) dan juga tentang terobosoan di dunia proteksi tanaman tembakau. Kecuali itu, kami juga mengajak peserta melihat proses pembuatan cerutu handmade di Kopkar Kertanegara,” urai Sumarno.
“Dengan lengkapnya sharing knowledge yang kami terima di sini – PTPN X, saya yakin Ponorogo memiliki potensi yang besar untuk pengembangan komoditas tembakau, khususnya di ranah diversifikasi produk tembakau,” tegasnya. (Okta PI_Penelitian Tembakau Jember, Putri_Sekper)
