The 5th TNC—ACAFTA, Indonesia Dorong Percepatan Finalisasi Perundingan ASEAN—Canada FTA

Badung, 29 September 2023 – Direktur Jenderal Perundingan Perdagangan Internasional Kementerian Perdagangan RI Djatmiko Bris Witjaksono, selaku Ketua Perunding ASEAN, memimpin pertemuan the 5 th Trade Negotiating Committee (TNC) ASEAN – Canada Free Trade Agreement (ACAFTA) Meeting and Related Meetings. Pertemuan berlangsung di Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Badung, Provinsi Bali pada 25—29 September 2023 dan dihadiri para negosiator dari ASEAN, Kanada, serta perwakilan dari Sekretariat ASEAN. Djatmiko mengatakan, pertemuan membahas penyelesaian sejumlah isu untuk menyesuaikan dengan target baru finalisasi perundingan.


“Secara garis besar, Pertemuan TNC membahas berbagai agenda termasuk isu-isu outstanding seperti tenaga kerja dan lingkungan. Selain itu, pertemuan membahas rencana kerja TNC dan seluruh badan sektoral di bawahnya tahun 2024 dan 2025 untuk menyesuaikan dengan target baru finalisasi perundingan ACAFTA pada 2025. Target baru tersebut telah disahkan para Menteri Ekonomi ASEAN dan Kanada pada Agustus 2023,” kata Djatmiko.


Djatmiko mengatakan, pertemuan putaran kelima menggunakan pendekatan tematik perdagangan jasa yang dihadiri secara fisik oleh sembilan Working Group/Sub-Working Group (WG/SWG). Terdapat empat WG/SWG di sektor jasa. Selain itu, terdapat lima WG/SWG di luar sektor jasa yang terdiri atas WG Perdagangan Barang, SWG Aturan Asal Barang, WG Investasi, WG Hak Kekayaan Intelektual, dan WG Isu Isu Hukum dan Institusi. Sementara itu, WG lainnya bertemu secara virtual. Total ada 18 WG/SWG dan tiga Expert Group (EG) di bawah perundingan ACAFTA.

“ACAFTA nantinya akan menjadi FTA pertama antara ASEAN dan Benua Amerika. Para negosiator harus
segera menyelesaikan secara substansial perundingan ini pada 2025 sesuai mandat baru para menteri.
Pada putaran ini, banyak pasal dan paragraf yang telah disepakati. Kami selaku Chair dan Country
Coordinator mendorong agar seluruh pihak dapat mencari landing zone yang dapat disepakati semua
pihak,” pungkas Djatmiko.
