Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) yang diproyeksikan menjadi smart city ternyata menyimpan surga pariwisata yang sangat potensial untuk menjadi favorit wisatawan. Dengan keindahan alamnya, Kalimantan Timur memiliki banyak destinasi wisata bahari atau marine tourism.
Dikutip dari laman kemenparekraf.go.id, promosi pariwisata di Kalimantan, khususnya Kalimantan Timur, selama ini masih kalah dengan wilayah lain seperti Raja Ampat di Papua Barat, Labuan Bajo di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), dan Bali.
Maka dari itu, Direktorat Pemasaran Pariwisata Nusantara Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (Kemenparekraf) bekerja sama dengan Otorita Ibu Kota Nusantara (OIKN) menggelar perjalanan wisata pengenalan atau familiarization trip (famtrip) ke Kabupaten Berau, Kalimantan Timur.
Selain untuk mempromosikan sektor pariwisata di Kabupaten Berau, kegiatan famtrip tersebut juga bertujuan untuk menguji coba pola perjalanan wisata atau travel pattern yang nantinya dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi paket wisata. Kegiatan ini sekaligus ingin menggalakkan kampanye Gerakan Nasional Bangga Berwisata #DiIndonesiaAja.
Melalui famtrip ini, harapannya dapat tercipta sebuah travel pattern “Paket Wisata IKN”, dengan pola perjalanan meliputi wilayah IKN, Samarinda, dan Balikpapan, termasuk desa wisata yang ada di daerah tersebut.
Adapun uji coba Paket Wisata IKN tersebut digelar selama empat hari pada 12–15 Oktober 2023. Peserta famtrip diajak untuk island hopping atau menjelajah pulau-pulau yang ada di Kabupaten Berau, di antaranya Pulau Maratua, Pulau Kakaban, Pulau Sangalaki, dan Pulau Derawan. Mereka juga disuguhkan atraksi di Goa Halo Tabung dan berinteraksi dengan manta dan lumba-lumba.
