Kongres PWI XXV di Bandung, Lutfil Hakim : PWI Harus Mampu Tegakkan Prinsip Fire-Wall

SURABAYA, September 2023– Kongres XXV Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI), yang digelar di Bandung Jawa Barat, dan dibuka Presiden RI Joko Widodo dari Gedung Istana Negara, Senin (25/09/2023), adalah momen penting bagi insan pers.  Kemajuan teknologi serta tantangan yang semakin komplek, harus menjadi pemikiran serius.

“Independensi dan keberdayaan pers adalah keniscayaan tuntutan di tengah dinamika penyelenggaraan negara yang makin menunjukkan wajah carut – marutnya. PWI sebagai asosiasi jurnalis harus mampu menjadikan pers sebagai salah satu backbone pelaksana kontrol nasional, terutama dalam mengkritisi ketimpangan kebijakan yang tidak pro – rakyat,” pesan Ketua PWI Jatim Lutfil Hakim, Sabtu (23/09/2023).

Menurut Lutfil Hakim, Pers Nasional urgen melakukan refresh secara struktural dan fundamental pada peran dan fungsinya sebagai alat kontrol nasional (watchdog) – dalam kerangka meluruskan jalannya cita – cita luhur bangsa, yakni mewujudkan kehidupan bernegara secara berkeadilan tanpa terkecuali (for all citizens without exception).

Untuk itu, kata Lutfil Hakim, pers harus memiliki sensitivitas tinggi dalam mendeteksi tanda – tanda jalannya kebijakan yang melenceng dari ruh kehidupan rakyat, serta kritis dan berani blowing up the news atas tendensi political connection practices antar kekuatan kepentingan.

“Tugas ini adalah amanat UU Pers Pasal 3 dan 6, yakni selain berperan sebagai the role of educating and conveying information, pers wajib bertanggungjawab memperjuangkan keadilan dan kebenaran – yang berkaitan dengan kepentingan umum,” ujar Cak Item panggilan Lutfil Hakim.

Terkait dengan itu, kata Cak Item, PWI ke depan harus mampu menegakkan prinsip pagar – api (fire-wall) untuk tegaknya independensi, agar tercipta kehidupan pers yang berkualitas, profesional, serta berdayaguna bagi kehidupan berbangsa dan bernegara.

Maka itu, lanjut Cak Item, PWI juga perlu memperjuangkan terbitnya sebuah peraturan yang membatasi majority of shares (kepemilikan saham) dari kelompok kepentingan ekonomi-bisnis dan politik atas perusahaan pers.

“Maka itu, kepemimpinan kolektif PWI (sebagai asosiasi jurnalis) ke depan haruslah figur – figur yang secara karakter memiliki leadership courage, kemandirian, high sensitivity & sense of social awareness,  berwawasan global, serta memiliki komitmen yang tinggi dalam hal etik dan moral,” tambahnya.
