Pekanbaru – Danish Riziq Khairan Siregar, anak karyawan PalmCo Regional 3 Provinsi Riau berhasil mengharumkan Indonesia dalam ajang International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) 2023 yang diselenggarakan di Bangkok, Thailand, belum lama ini.
Pelajar 13 tahun yang kini duduk di bangku kelas VIII Sekolah Menengah Pertama Islam As-Shofa Kota Pekanbaru itu menyumbang medali perunggu dalam ajang sains internasional bergengsi yang diikuti ratusan pelajar berprestasi dari berbagai negara dunia tersebut. Secara keseluruhan, terdapat enam medali yang diraih tim Indonesia, terdiri dari satu medali perak dan lima medali perunggu.
“Alhamdulillah. Sebuah kebanggaan bisa menyumbangkan medali dalam kompetisi ini. Pengalaman luar biasa untuk bisa berprestasi lebih baik di masa mendatang,” kata Danish di Pekanbaru, Rabu (13/12/2023).
Siswa berkacamata berusia 13 tahun yang mengidolakan sosok BJ Habibie dan memiliki cita-cita sebagai pembuat pesawat terbang tersebut mengatakan beragam tahapan ditempuh dalam beberapa bulan lalu sebelum akhirnya berkompetisi yang diikuti 304 pelajar dari 50 lebih negara berbagai belahan dunia tersebut.
Persiapan diawali dari seleksi ketat para peraih medali dalam ajang Olimpiade Sains Nasional (OSN) 2023 yang dilaksanakan sejak medio tahun ini. Danish yang merupakan peraih medali emas serta Best Theory pada OSN Agustus 2023 itu ikut seleksi bersama 30 pelajar berprestasi dari seluruh Indonesia. Setidaknya, ada tiga tahap seleksi dan pembinaan yang telah mereka lalui hingga akhirnya mewakili Indonesia dalam ajang tersebut.
“Awalnya dari OSN ada 30 orang peraih medali yang diseleksi di Bandung. Kemudian tersisa 12 orang dan akhirnya terpilih enam orang untuk ditempat di Depok. Selama 25 hari kami terus dipersiapkan sebelum siap berkompetisi di Thailand,” ujarnya.
Danish yang merupakan putra seorang karyawan pimpinan PalmCo Regional 3 itu mengaku meski telah mengikuti pembinaan matang dari Pusat Prestasi Nasional atau Puspresnas, dia sempat grogi saat pelaksanaan kompetisi tiba.
“Sempat agak sedikit deg-degan gitu dan tangannya berkeringat pas sebelum pengerjaan soal. Tapi setelah mulai pengerjaan udah mulai confident,” ujarnya semringah.
Ia akan menjadikan kompetisi ini sebagai pengalaman berharga untuk kompetisi tingkat internasional lainnya di masa mendatang. “Motivasi terbesar saya ingin membahagiakan ayah dan ibu,” demikian Danish.
Untuk diketahui, International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) adalah ajang Olimpiade Sains untuk siswa-siswi Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) yang bertaraf internasional. Olimpiade Sains ini melingkupi kemampuan sains siswa-siswi SMP yang meliputi kemampuan teoritis yang bersifat individual dan kemampuan eksperimental sains yang bersifat kelompok atau tim dengan anggota tiga orang.
Kemampuan teoritis meliputi keterpaduan mata pelajaran Biologi, Fisika dan Kimia. Untuk kemampuan eksperimental meliputi kemampuan eksperimental Biologi, Fisika dan Kimia dan keterpaduan ketiga mata pelajaran tersebut.
Tahun ini IJSO diikuti oleh 304 peserta dari 54 negara. Total ada enam medali yang didapatkan, medali perak diraih oleh Renault Tjandera dari SMP Santa Laurensia, Kota Tangerang Selatan. Selanjutnya, lima medali perunggu diraih oleh Juan Howard Wijaya dari SMP Darma Yudha Pekanbaru, Danish Riziq Khairan Siregar dari SMP As Shofa Pekanbaru, Ahmad Kautsar Al Ramadhani dari MTsN 1 Kota Malang, Matthew Tjandra dari SMPK 6 PENABUR DKI Jakarta, dan Faizah Adriansyah dari MTsN 6 Kota Padang.
